Levels of School Nursing
An education institute which provides education and training to develop into a fully qualified nurse are often called as nursing school or School Nursing. There is considerable variation across the world in terms of nursing qualifications and nature of nursing education. The standard education offered at the nursing schools helps in developing into a fully qualified nurse. The education system offered consists of both practical and theoretical training. This approach in both areas helps them to perform their duties effectively as professionals. The well qualified nurse and medical professionals who have vast experience in the field of nursing provide the education to nursing students in the form of a mentor, tutor, and professors etc., the courses offered by the School Nursing may be of general nursing or any specialization like course in mental health, post operation and pediatrician. The duration of the course generally varies i.e., it may last from 3 to 4 years. Post qualification courses in a particular field of specialization are also offered to the nursing students.
Applying for a nursing school to opt for any nursing program includes the candidate to clear a general entrance exam conducted by the university or college of nursing. An individual after clearing the entrance exam should have a clear idea about the program or course to choose among the wide variety of options provided by the nursing schools.

Levels of School Nursing: School Nursing train nurses and offer many degree courses like registered nurse (RN), licensed practical nurse (LPN), BSN and all other certified courses of nursing. The duration of course ranges from 1 to 3 years.
Registered Nurse: Candidates should pass a national exam and at as charge nurses or nurse managers. They are much involved and have responsibility in documentation and also concentrate more on procedures for patients. The duration to pursue the course of registered nurse would take 2 to 3 years.
Licensed practical nurses: The candidate has to pursue a course of nursing for 1 or 2 years and should pass in licensing exam to become a LPN. Day to day work of nursing is carried by the LPN and is compassionate care takers. They are often in direct contact with patients.
MSN: The candidate with master in science is well educated in many of the specialized fields like women health, acute care etc.
RN and Nurse Practitioners have knowledge and have gone through advanced training in diagnosing and many complex medical conditions. Thus these are the various courses offered by the School Nursing, the duration of the course and the nature of the education vary from state to state.
Gender is no more a barrier for nursing and is open to any one. Individual who has keen interest, passion towards the field of nursing can go ahead in any of the courses offered by many colleges or universities. Mostly youth are starting their career as nurses and the mode of work carried out by them can be both full time and part time depending upon the individual choice.
